Most of what's written about pet detox and drainage — including most of what's on this site — is written for dogs and cats. But plenty of PAL households have more than a dog or a cat in the mix: a rabbit hopping around the living room, a ferret tearing through a play tunnel. Those animals live in the same toxin-exposed world your dog does — they just process it through very different bodies. Here's an honest look at what's the same, what's different, and what the ingredient research actually shows.

Fulvic acid is a smaller, more water-soluble relative of humic acid, studied for how it affects the solubility and absorption of other compounds. Research published in the International Journal of Drug Development & Research found that fulvic acid can meaningfully enhance the solubility and dissolution of compounds it's paired with, acting as a natural carrier molecule.³
A comprehensive toxicological evaluation of a fulvic and humic acid preparation, published in Toxicology Reports in 2020, assessed safety across standard toxicology measures and did not identify concerning findings at the doses studied.&sup4;
TUDCA: What the Research Shows About Liver and Cellular Support
TUDCA (tauroursodeoxycholic acid) is a naturally occurring bile acid studied for its role in bile flow and cellular stress reduction. A clinical study published in the journal Diabetes found that TUDCA improved measures of liver and muscle insulin sensitivity in obese human subjects.&sup5;
A separate review published in Cells describes TUDCA's function as a "chemical chaperone" that helps reduce endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress and supports normal cellular function.&sup6; TUDCA is a bile acid that rabbits, ferrets, and every other mammal already produce naturally — which is part of why it's drawn interest for gentle liver support across species.

- The exposure is real, regardless of species. Pesticides and household chemicals don't check what kind of animal they're landing on.
- The elimination machinery is the same idea, different scale. Liver, bile, gut, kidneys — every mammal runs some version of this system.
